Members of Project Manager Maneuver Ammunition System’s Product Director Non-Standard Ammunition were presented awards by James Shields, Program Executive Officer Ammunition, on behalf of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM). The awards were signed by U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. G.W. Smith, CENTCOM Director for Strategy Plans and Policy. The awards were given to the team in recognition of their commitment and support to the Syria and Iraq Train and Equip effort to defeat ISIS. The team manages the Army's Non-Standard Ammunition program. Non-standard ammunition refers to munitions that aren't stocked or type-classified for use by U.S. forces. Eastern European factories manufacture the majority of ammunition and weapons used by Afghanistan, Iraq and other friendly nations for counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and security operations.
