Curation

National Park Service, 'Managing Archaeological Collections': http://www.nps.gov/history/archeology/collections/index.htm

Current Status and Goal
According to NJ SHPO policy, all archaeological collections must be curated to meet 36 CFR 79. According to NJ State Museum Curation policies (in draft as of 2005), only archaeological collections from eligible for or listed on the National Register of Historic Places can be curated at the Museum in Trenton, NJ.

USAG Picatinny’s plan for curating archaeological collections is to renovate space on the installation to meet these Federal Standards.

This renovated storage space is secure and climate controlled with an area for washing and processing archaeological materials. Humidity monitors are already in place for climate control inspection purposes.
