Several previous historic preservation documents provide information on the general history of the historic districts as well as the individual buildings (HABS/HAER 1985; Chase-Harrell 1994; Nolte et al. 1999a; 1999b; Nolte and Steinback 2004a; 2004b; Nolte et al. 2007).  Building descriptions on the pages of this web site are based on a review of original drawings, maps, and other Picatinny records, along with information from these previous studies.  Drawings are on file at the Department of Public Works, Picatinny Arsenal.  Historic photographs and maps, unless otherwise noted, are U.S. Army Photos, on file at the ARDEC Historical Office, Picatinny Arsenal NJ. Security clearance may be required to obtain copies of documents on file at Picatinny Arsenal and the Historic Preservation Office.
