PAYMENT BY CASH OR CHECK,
RESERVATION PROCEDURES:
Reservations
are available for groups or families for all trailer, tent, and shelter sites.
Reservations are processed through the Visitor Center at the Saffin Rock-Rill
Area of Mahlon Dickerson Reservation. There are two ways to make reservations.
BY MAIL: Reservations processed by
mail must be received at least two weeks in advance with the appropriate
payment.
IN PERSON: Reservations may be made in
person at the Visitor Center anytime prior to the reservation date.
We cannot accept telephone
reservations or credit card payments at this time.
A
deposit of one night’s fee for each site and payment of the Reservation Fee is
required to confirm reservations. Refunds are not issued. Reservations canceled
at least 48 hours in advance will receive a credit for the site fee for a
future visit. The Reservation Fee will not be credited.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURES:
CAMPERS WITHOUT RESERVATIONS will be accommodated on a
first-come, first-served basis.
Campers
without reservations must register and obtain a permit prior to occupying a
site.

WHEN THE OFFICE IS OPEN: Campers
without reservations must register at the Visitor Center (or Campground Office,
May – Oct).
·
WHEN THE OFFICE IS CLOSED: Campers without reservations must register with the
Camp Host at the Trailer Area.
·
QUICK REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: Campers may also utilize the
“Quick Registration” envelopes located at the entrance to the Trailer Area to
register and pay when park staff is not available. The drop box is located at
the directory at the entrance to the Trailer Area.
Campers with reservations may proceed directly to
their assigned sites. Park staff will place a “Site Occupied” card at the site
in advance of scheduled arrival. “Site Occupied” cards show the reservation
name and reservation dates for the site.
All
campers are encouraged to register before 6:00 p.m.
A
permit indicating site assignment is issued for campers with and without
reservations upon payment of camping fees.
Groups
that are not camping may reserve the Camping Area Council Ring for a daytime or evening
activity by obtaining a permit from the Visitor Center.
The Trailer Area Council Ring is for registered campers only and is not available for outside group use. Registered campers may use Camping and Trailer Area Council Rings on a first-come, first-served basis with no fee, unless previously reserved.
RULES & REGULATIONS:
Applicable
Park Commission Rules & Regulations are posted at the Information Directory
in each area. Please read them before using the facilities.
The
following summary applies to campers:
·
Minimum
age to purchase a camping permit is 18 years. The permit holder must occupy
the campsite and is responsible for any damage to the site.
·
Checkout
time is 12:00 noon.
·
Visitors of registered guests must leave the park by 10:00 p.m.
·
Quiet hours are in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
·
Camping
and trailer sites are for overnight camping use only.
·
Maximum
camping period is limited to fourteen (14) days within any thirty (30) day
period.
·
Alcoholic
beverages are prohibited.
·
Tent
platforms (12’x12’) are provided in each tent site and must be used whenever
possible. A maximum of two tents is permitted at each tent site. One additional
tent may be used outside at the Adirondack Shelter sites. Tents must be kept
within the “hardened” campsite area.
·
Trailers
and Motor Homes, not to exceed thirty-five (35) feet in length and must use
trailer sites. Mobile Homes are not permitted. One tent is permitted within
each trailer site.
·
Campfires
are only permitted in areas designated for this purpose. Fire rings are
provided at each tent, shelter, and council ring site.
·
Charcoal
grills are provided at each trailer site, for charcoal use only. Wood fires are
not permitted at trailer sites.
·
Fires
(wood or charcoal) shall not be left unattended and shall be completely
extinguished before the campsite is vacated, or before retiring for the night.
·
All
campers are responsible for disposing of their own garbage in the dumpsters
provided and recycling in the proper containers. Areas must be kept clean and
free of debris. Garbage and trash must not be disposed of in campfires.
·
Dumping
of wastewater (gray water) in campsites is prohibited.
·
Washing
of clothing, persons, or dishes at any potable water supply point is
prohibited.
·
ALL
PETS must be leashed at all times and cleaned up after. Any nuisance will be
the responsibility of the campsite permit holder.
·
Vehicles
must be parked in designated areas.
·
The
cutting or damaging of trees is prohibited.
·
Operation
of portable or vehicle-mounted electrical generators is prohibited.
·
Use
of trails outside the Trailer and Camping Areas is prohibited after dark.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Mahlon
Dickerson Reservation is located one mile east of Route 15 on Weldon Road in
Jefferson Township. The 3,000-acre forested park includes a Trailer Area, Tent
Camping Area, Picnic Area, 12-acre pond, and many miles of trails.
