PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Scurrying to meet the daily demands of a job make it easy to forget what fun is. It is especially easy when winter throws snow and cold into the mix.

So, this week’s column is running a photo of earlier Picatinny and enjoying the unofficial recreational facilities of the installation.

The accompanying shot appeared in Picatinny Arsenal: The Cradle of American Ammunition, a publicity brochure the installation put out in the 1950s, and sought to tout the recreational possibilities of the area to potential employees.
The place is Lake Picatinny and the season is winter. The viewer is facing toward the west side of the lake.
