The GSTAMIDS spiral development program offers the best-of-industry technologies in successive blocks, allowing PM CM & EOD to field a near-term capability while pursuing solutions to the greater technical challenges to vehicle-mounted mine detection. GSTAMIDS will detect and mark mines, temporarily mark cleared lane and bypass or neutralize antitank mines along a four-meter path on primary and secondary roads at a speed of 5-15 kph. Each Robotic Platform contains a complete set of detection, marking and neutralization capabilities. The two Robotic Platforms will be controlled by a manned ground vehicle or dismounted with Common Ground Control Station. The Robotic Platforms will proceed forward at maximum speed to a region of interest (ROI) as defined by situational awareness. GSTAMIDS will perform its mission then proceed to the next ROI.
