ACS December Holiday Events:

Dec. 22 - Menorah Lighting plannedChanukah Memorah

      The annual Menorah Lighting observing Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, will be held Dec. 22 at 3:30 p.m. near the Christmas tree and the Cannon Gates.  Along with the lighting, there will be music, singing and refreshments.

Picatinny Toastmasters Club

Jan. 7 and 21 - Monthly Meetings: Public Speaking and Leadership Development/Self-Training in Action

Picatinny Military and Civilian's Club

Jan. 21 – PMCC Supper

Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge

Jan. 14 – General Meeting/Luncheon

The next Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Meeting will be held at The Club Jan. 14 at noon.  Cost is $12/person.  The featured speaker will be Ralph Bozarth, from Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, who will discuss the National World War II Registry of Remembrances – how to enroll and how to search the Registry to see if someone you know is enrolled.  The Registry is a listing of individual Americans who contributed to the war effort.  Any U.S. citizen who helped win the war, whether a veteran or someone on the home front, is eligible for the Registry.  Names in the Registry will be linked to the WWII Memorial.  Call 973-584-6126 to attend.

Feb. 11 – General Meeting/Luncheon

Retired Army Col. Emil H. Philibosian, Deputy Commissioner for Veterans Affairs in New Jersey, will be the featured speaker at the Feb. 11 meeting.  He is responsible for providing support to New Jersey’s 672,000 veterans and their families, operation of three 300-bed nursing homes, overseeing a “Transitional Housing Program” for homeless veterans and one of the nation’s largest State Veterans Cemeteries, located at Arneytown, NJ.  He is a highly decorated Vietnam veteran, and lawyer, with extensive experience in both the active-duty and reserve components of the military.  The meeting will be held at The Club at noon. Marines

Marines carrying on tradition of "Toys for Tots"

      The U.S. Marine Corps here is once again collecting Toys for Tots to help needy children in our area this holiday season.  The box will be in Bldg. 3306 (near the Commissary) until close of business Dec. 19.  All gifts must be new and unwrapped.  Any monetary donations can be brought also to Bldg. 3306, checks payable to Toys for Tots.  For further information, contact Marine Staff Sgt. The Cannon Gate Catering & Conference Center (The Club) Events:

This annual event will be here before you know it.  Make reservations now. Menu includes: Crab Bisque Soup, Salad, Filet Mignon & Stuffed Shrimp, Baked Potato, Zucchini with Mushrooms, Dessert, Coffee, Tea, Cash Bar, Continental Breakfast with Omelet Station at 1 a.m.  Champagne toast at midnight is included as well as party favors.  Cost: $60/person.  Seating will begin at 8:30 p.m.  Call for reservations: (973) 724-2582.

Fitness Center

Jan. 12 – Ping Pong Tournament

Beginning Jan. 12, Total Fitness will sponsor a Double Elimination Ping Pong Tournament at the Total Fitness, Bldg. 3150.  Matches will be scheduled for player availability.  It is open to all Arsenal employees and military.  It will be free to all Fitness Pass Holders and Active Duty Military on post.  All non-members will be charged $15 to enter the tournament. Karate classes are offered at the Fitness Center every Tuesday and Thursday from 4 – 5:30 p.m. for adults and 5:30 – 7 p.m. for children. Cost is $30/class per month and $48 for two classes a week per month. Call X4629 for more information.
