As the Home of American Firepower, Picatinny Arsenal is at the forefront of research, design, and engineering for the Department of Defense. DES serves as a leader for incorporating new ideas, tactics, techniques, procedures and equipment into the field of emergency services. This page serves as a reference center for sharing these concepts as we work to protect our service members, civilians, and family members. We welcome your comments and suggestions to this program.

Community Policing

Community Oriented Policing

Community policing is a philosophy, management style, and organizational strategy that promotes proactive problem solving and police-community partnerships to address the causes of crime as well as other community issues.   The goal is to have dedicated officers, who have effective people skills, interacting with people in the community and gaining an understanding of their concerns and how the police can best serve their needs.  The officers then work with people in the neighborhood to find the right solutions to address their concerns.  We are a part of the community and we're also here to be actively involved in community events.  Think of Community Policing as being your advocate to making Picatinny Arsenal the best possible place to live and work and play.

Please feel free to contact us and see how we can be of service.  Together, we can make a difference.
